A born wordsmith, I wrote my first story—a thriller—at age 8.

And I kept writing—everything. I earned my Master's and taught writing across mediums and audience awareness at universities in Raleigh and Chicago while crafting my expertise over two decades of mastery in providing editorial and content creation for print and digital media for myriad brands, publications and institutions nationwide. I live in Raleigh, N.C., and thrive on coffee, family/friends, playtime with my pup, sunshine and football season.


As a writer and editor:

Expertise: Over the course of my 20-year career, I have written for vast mediums, audiences and publications for myriad fields: corporate communications clients (e.g., Merck), public relations and marketing firms, academia, nonprofits (e.g., Fisher House), publishing houses, magazines, newspapers and more—from articles to essays to press releases to speeches to white papers, etc. I am an expert in audience and medium awareness. In addition to my vast writing credits, I taught Writing Across Mediums and Writing for All Audiences at the university level in both Raleigh (NCSU) and Chicago (DePaul) for eight years.

I currently serve as a regular feature correspondent with a weekly "Best Bets" column for the News & Observer (both print and digital), as well as medical editor-at-large for Modern Luxury, the largest luxury media group in the country, spanning 90+ countrywide magazine titles. 

In my 10-year tenure at Modern Luxury: After contributing to JEZEBEL magazine in Atlanta from 2013-18, I was tasked with launching the semiannual publication Modern Luxury Medicine + Doctors in the Atlanta market in 2017 and serving as editor-in-chief. In late 2018, I was quickly promoted to national medical editor (2018-December 2019), covering the new, now, next on an array of medical, wellness, health, beauty and fitness topics—from boot camp to Botox to brain surgery—for ModLux in its Atlanta, D.C., Philly and Chicago markets.  

As a copy editor:

I have worked as a copy editor for a variety of mediums and clients—from print and digital magazines to corporate clients and nonprofits to PR/ad agencies to university clients—for over 20 years.

Most recently, in addition to a handful of freelance clients, I served as senior copy editor for Modern Luxury for over a decade. As such, I provided extensive copy editing of national content for luxury city, interior design, weddings, men's, custom and specialty publications. I also was responsible for cover-to-cover content across a number of markets (Atlanta, DC, Palm Beach, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Scottsdale, Silicon Valley, Aspen, Hawaii and more) using AP Style and a company style guide that I aided in writing, updating and maintaining.
